All Talk, No Pics :(

So unfortunately I don't have pictures today....wait, wait, don't leave though! It'll be a quick post, I promise! :)

Friday we had a CRAZY wind storm. The sustained winds were about 45mph and the gusts were getting up to 85mph. And being that we are right next to the White Sands National Monument, the entire sky looked tan. If you didn't know any better, you would've thought it was a gloomy day out or something. But underneath all that sand flying around, it was clear blue skies.

A little wind didn't stop us though, we had plans to go to Red Lobster! After Trav got off work, we drove the 45 minutes to Las Cruces and had a very nice triple date with our friends, Jonathon and Amy (the triple part was Dylan and Kaylee). I have never been to Red Lobster before, or if I have I absolutely don't remember it (my parents seem to recall taking us there a time or two on various vacations), but the commercials always look sooooo good.....and I'm not even a huge seafood eater! I've asked Travis to take me there a couple times before, but he really just didn't care too much to eat it. He's always said, it's okay but it's not great. Luckily for me though, my friend Amy, loves Red Lobster and her husband Jonathon, at least LIKES Red Lobster. So when it came up in conversation that I had never been, it was on!
Dinner was GOOD! I mean no, is it fresh Alaskan salmon or halibut? No. Is it fresh flounder or shrimp? Probably not. But it was good, to me at least!
I would love to open up a restaurant that served bite sized portions for everything on the menu. So that way you could go in and basically eat just about everything on the menu that sounded good to you. Since I'm not sure of any restaurants like that (other than the tappas restaurant in Anchorage, Cafe Savannah I think?), I settled for ordering a few appetizers. We all shared the lobster artichoke dip and then I ordered lobster nachos and mango-jalapeno shrimp skewers (which were delicious!).

Anyway, overall it was a good call on all of our parts. Even Travis loved his peppercorn steak and shrimp combo he ordered. Dylan was EXTREMELY well behaved (well, for a two year old's standards- let's just put it this way, no one was pelted with crayons or his sippy cup and we didn't have to tell him to sit down once, so I would say that's a success!). Dylan's appetite was also a major shocker. He ate several bites of his chicken tenders, french fries, a cheddar biscuit, and just about everything else we gave him to try. I was amazed. He must be going through a growth spurt.

Today I was invited to a "Tastefully Simple" party at Hollie's house. Amy and I went together, so Jonathon and Kaylee came over to hang out with Travis and Dylan. They went to the bow shop together in Tularosa and then came home to watch a lot of hunting, while us girls had a very good time sampling some good dips, sauces, spices, and breads....oh, and a few drinks!
I probably ordered more than I should've, but my weakness (other than cookies and brownies) are sauces and dips and yeah well, that's at least 1/2 to 3/4 of what's in the catelog!
The beer bread was AMAZING, so of course I ordered some of that, along with some bayou bourbon glaze, spicy honey mustard, sweet jalapeno sauce (that I can't wait to put over some cream cheese!), a trio pack of spices, zezty peppercorn sauce, and some fudge brownie mix that almost all of the ladies swore by! Mmmmmm......sound tempting yet? Well, here's the website in case you're interested in finding out more about hosting a party or even just browsing through the items they sell http://www.tastefullysimple.com/Cultures/en-US/
Anyway, it was fun. It was nice getting out of the house and having some girl time. Thanks again Hollie!

Tomorrow we are going to be going to church and then the boys are going to go have some "man time" shooting their bows. Fun stuff....or, not!

Sorry, I don't have pictures this time. I know it probably wasn't as fun, but what can I say, I'm lame! I made sure I brought my camera to almost everything we did, but I was just too lazy to snap pics! Next post though, I promise I'll get it together!

Anyway, good night! We are officially heading to bed!
